Manors Reflections: A Live Art Experience

Sept 18, 5:30 – 7:30 pm | Farnsworth Art Museum, Rockland, ME

Cost: $35; $30 for members | Register at https://www.farnsworthmuseum.org/event/manor-reflections/

In this evening performance uniquely designed for the Farnsworth Museum’s Momentum exhibition series and crafted in response to paintings by Anne Buckwalter, Manors Reflections brings an immersive live art experience to the museum gallery space.

This performance offers an intimate, interactive experience that blends poetry, music, and visual art to the gallery space. The performance is designed to engage with the themes, textures, and emotions of the artwork through poetry and live cello improvisation. The combination of poetry — written by poet Arisa White to respond to the artwork — and the music — improvised by cellist Robin Lane in response to the poetry — will create a fluid, organic dialogue between sound, word, and image to bring the audience along an immersive art journey.

The evening consists of two timed performances with a collective reception in between. Enjoy tasty nibbles and a refreshing beverage and meet and greet the artists. The evening’s schedule is as follows:

  • 5:30 – 6:05 pm: Performance 1 in the Crosman Gallery
  • 6:00 – 7 pm: Shared reception in the Farnsworth Library and a Meet & Greet with the Artists
  • 6:55 – 7:30 pm: Performance 2 in the Crosman Gallery

To minimize distractions for the performers, we ask that audience members be seated for the performance no later than five minutes before the start of their ticketed performance.

* Due to limited space in the gallery, each registrant may attend one of the performances and the reception. When registering, please choose the performance time you wish to attend.
