Friday, Sept 17; 1-5pm EST: ONLINE WORKSHOP | Memory As Arc: A Poetic Archiving of Your Archives. An online writing retreat with Meredith Clark and Arisa White. In this creative writing retreat, participants will move along their arcs of memories and take notice of the themes and motifs that shape their histories. This engagement with your past, present, and future will help to unleash the fierce potential that comes from re-archiving your archives. Borrowing from strategies used in poetry, participants will craft evocative images and extended metaphors that identify unique patterns and introduce fresh energy to personal narratives. Please join the Maine Writers & Publishers Alliance along with the Indigo Arts Alliance, Mechanics’ Hall, and USM’s Stonecoast MFA Program in welcoming award-winning fiction writer Deesha Philyaw to Portland for a reading and conversation. Philyaw will be joined by Arisa White, award-winning writer and assistant professor of creative writing at Colby College, and will also sign books after the event thanks to Longfellow Books.
